Art at the Library

The Marlborough Library welcomes the opportunity to allow local artists, community groups and organizations to use the display and exhibit areas in the library. Space is provided for displays and exhibits of an educational, cultural, or recreational nature, not for advertising for commercial enterprises. The library currently only has art exhibit space available in the library cafe, located on the 2nd floor.

Erin Sivak

My work is meant to evoke joy and energy, both for me creating it and anyone viewing it. I have a very full, hectic life being a wife, mom of three young boys, and working full time. I love and am grateful for the life and family I have built. They are my home, my heart, and bring excitement and purpose to my life. At the same time, like many mothers I often reminisce about the person I was before I became a mom. I think many people feel this way when they are wrapped up in the overwhelming, amazing, and all-encompassing journey that is parenting. I started painting to carve out time for me. An activity that fed my soul, pushed me to learn new things and fulfilled my need to create. Over the years, I realized I was also finding my way back to versions of myself that existed before my boys came along. I spent lots of time drawing and writing as a teenager and could spend hours in my own imaginary world as a kid. When I paint, I can tap into those feelings, those memories and just play. My abstract works are vibrant and sometimes so full of colors reminiscent of Lisa Frank it can feel like that seven-year-old Barbie obsessed girl has come back out on the canvas. My paintings have subjects and themes that bring light, happiness, and peace to me. I love spending time outside. A walk in the woods will always be my first suggestion to the kids for what we should do on a nice day. My wildflower series and botanical paintings reflect the inspiration I get being outside and my admiration for artists like Odilon Redon. I love collecting art as much as I love making it. I truly believe you should be able to fill your life and home with beautiful work no matter what your budget is. I work mainly in acrylic on stretched canvas and create pieces meant to be accessible, attainable, and enjoyed by anyone who is looking to bring color, liveliness, and charm into their home
