Overview
Mayor J. Christian Dumais is excited to announce the return of the Mayor's Summer Internship Program. This program aims to provide to college-aged individuals with the unique opportunity to gain practical, real-life experience in a municipal government setting. Participants would work 25 hours per week between June - August within a city department alongside a department head or employee. The program is open to college-aged individuals who have recently graduated high school, are currently in college, in the workforce, or taking a gap year.
Participants have the option to choose several fields they may be interested in being placed into including Public Management, Public Housing, Finance, Engineering / Urban Planning, Economic Development, Public Health, Social Services, Information Technology, Environment and Conservation, Building / Construction / Code Enforcement, Public Works, Human Resources, Legal, Election Management / City Records, or Communications.
Participants must apply for the program through the application online. Once an application is received, a staff member will reach out to schedule a Teams Meeting interview within the month of May. Preference is given to Marlborough residents. Questions, inquiries, and applications will only be accepted from potential participants of the program. Participants must be available for interview dates, orientation, and program dates. Participants are paid the current Massachusetts minimum wage of $15 per hour.
